Mandurah and The Giants Bus Trip - 2025
6th April
Sunday 6th April was another of those glorious days that just added the cream to the cake with our bus trip to Mandurah. Early start and an enjoyable drive down South West Highway and onto Lakes Road that took us straight to the first Giant known as:
Yaburgurt Winjam Cirkstone
- 30 Peel Parade
- Coodanup – (walk to giant 500 meters return)
This was followed by our usual sumptuous morning tea and then onto the second Giant at:
Seba’s Song
- 56 Estuary Place
- Wannanup – (walk to giant 1.2 km return)
It was so interesting to hear the story of the artist.
Story of the artist
The Giants were designed by Thomas Dambo, a Danish “recycle art activist” who is known for his installations of giant monumental wooden sculptures called trolls. As an Artist his practice celebrates the diversity, beauty and protection of the natural world.
Following our wonderful walk along the estuary to visit the Giants we headed back to Mandurah and enjoyed a well-earned lunch at Sharky’s Fish and Chips on the Marina.
After lunch everyone enjoyed free time to wander through the covered markets and the well-known and excellent Christmas shop. Definitely worth a visit for those who enjoy all things Christmas.
Our homeward journey took us up to the Churchman Brook Dam and picnic area for a relaxing afternoon tea before heading home.
Thank you to all our helpers on the day making this just another of those wonderful Picnic Bus Trips.
